More about me

My Achievements

I’ve been passionately engaged with the Visual Arts as an artist, lecturer in Art History, curator of exhibitions, and cultural manager for 15 years in Belgium and Germany. I've got six years of Fine Arts study, a Stage Designer Assistant Certificate, a Master's Degree in Art History & Curating from the UNArte, and a couple of years of online language training under my belt.

At the age of 29, I earned my Ph.D. in Egyptology and Coptology with high honors from the highly reputed University of Göttingen in Germany. My thesis on the Christian funerary stelae of the Byzantine and Arab periods from Egypt is a pioneering work in this field. In August 2019 I completed my first year of a Master of Education in Art Teaching at the Alanus University of Arts and Social Sciences in Alfter (Bonn).

In recognition of my excellent academic achievements, I received a fellowship grant from The Federal Cultural Foundation (Kulturstiftung des Bundes) and several merit scholarships for my graduate and doctoral studies from: The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), The Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES), The Soltenborn-Stiftung, The Michela Schiff Giorgini Foundation, and The Alanus University of Arts and Social Sciences.

Prestigious institutions I worked for include: Musée Bargoin in Clermont-Ferrand, France; Det Danske Kulturinstitut (Danish Cultural Institute) Brussels; Goethe-Institut, Brussels; Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium & The Musée Magritte Museum in Brussels; Kunstsammlungen Chemnitz - Kunstsammlungen am Theaterplatz.

Along with my involvement with the Visual Arts, music is also one of the most powerful experiences in my life. From a very early age, I played piano and was fortunate enough to study later on with the outstanding Belgian pianist Bernard Lemmens. In Brussels, Berlin, Bucharest, Köln, and Paris, I saw some of the world's greatest orchestras, conductors, pianists, and violonists performing. These experiences touched my heart deeply and shaped my spirit in a very distinctive way.

My story in a nutshell

My Story in a Nutshell

The first lockdown in Germany in the spring of 2020 stirred up in me the same sense of unfamiliarity, strangeness and loneliness in the world as the animated movie The Point! did many years before. It was as if the Coronavirus had created an almost impenetrable chasm between the world before and the world after its spread. I felt alone in the stream of time, while the word “alienation” was buzzing in my ears.

Around that time, two of my oldest and dearest friends from France aged 42 and 50 died. I was devastated by sadness. I was, in fact, experiencing a tough life crisis. I began to feel paralysed and hopeless. My creative self-confidence and my self-esteem hit rock bottom. I passed through the dark night of the soul. Every day I did not make art, I sank deeper and deeper, and my creative rut grew bigger and bigger.

In those critical moments, I saw myself standing before an appalling disaster or a tremendous possibility. I realised a crisis is a chance — the bigger the crisis, the bigger the chance. Thankful for my life crisis, I chose to rise instead of sinking. Yes, I made a choice, I grabbed a straw, and the straw turned into a thick rope.

I learned a big lesson out of my life crisis: never give up on your art practice. Always trust and persevere, for there's always a way out of a personal and creative crisis through inner transformation. Today I know I am an artist with every fiber of my being. Because I trust my Self, and I see and create like an artist. Have a look at my Portfolio and check my profile on Instagram.

The lockdown and my life crisis awakened me to be more mindful and to help people overcome their fears; to be more thoughtful about my fellow artists, and to be of service to them. My experience with the lockdown and the death of two of my oldest and best friends etched a higher sense of purpose in my life. Thanks to a life crisis, I saw myself growing my giving mindset exponentially and becoming more patient, more resilient, and more creative than any time before!

Here I am, ready to use my year-long expertise in the visual arts to accompany you on your creative journey, to inspire and encourage you, to make a valuable contribution to your development as an artist, and to assist you in turning your challenges into success!

It is for you that I launched The Pointless Artist in October 2021, an art blog, a podcast, and a visual arts hub with a focus on artistic creativity, art inspiration, and creative block among other things. My transformative life experience plays a pivotal role in the blog posts I write for you. Additionally, I provide ART TAL on The Pointless Artist Podcast to help you deal with artist block differently and sustainably, unlock your creativity in art, and get inspired along the way. Because I firmly believe in the passion for art, the importance of sharing knowledge and experiences, and the power of personal stories to bring us together.

My Artist Statement

"I'm guided by what I encounter in Nature, where nothing superfluous occurs, but everything has its place, meaning, and inner order. I'm attracted in particular by stones, wings, feathers, leaves, seashells, water, stars, and the Invisible. All of my art creation is an attempt to restore a connection with Nature and the world beyond the visible that humans have once broken." (Bianca Vinther)
